She attended Kent State University, majoring in photography/art, and later changing to Services Management. This led to a successful career in Hospitality, culminating after 12 years of managing upscale resorts In Key West, such as Hammerhead’s Brew Pub, The Pier House and the Ocean Key House, as well as being the liability expert for Greater Expectations Consulting. During this time she attended Florida Keys Community College for technology classes, and then Troy State University on Boca Chica for a Masters of Science in Counseling.
While this was a great career, she had always felt drawn to the legal field, so in 1998 she began at Florida Coastal School of Law, moving to Jacksonville, Florida to complete this doctoral degree. Susan graduated in May of 2001 after completing a 6 month internship with the State Attorney’s Office, for which she received the grade of “Pass With Distinction”.
Susan entered Private Practice in 2001, and accepted a position as General Counsel for Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville in early 2003. In 2004 she made the decision to open her own firm, and the First Coast Law Firm opened it’s doors in May of 2004.
Susan is also a Certified Forensic Evaluator from National Board of Forensic Evaluators and a trained Parent Coordinator.
Susan and her twin boys all live in semi-rural Jacksonville, and have several dogs and cats. Besides practicing law, she enjoys coaching the boys baseball team, reading, gardening, and watching football. Her favorite pastime is traveling, and she has visited over 15 countries. She enjoys introducing the boys to new cultures and visiting new places.
My family are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. My boys, now aged 15, are sophomores at Bishop Snyder High School.
Take out the part about me coaching their baseball team. I enjoy watching my kids play Football and Lacrosse at Bishop Snyder High School. I am an active member of the booster club and First Coast Law Offices is a sponsor for the football team and the annual golf outing.
We are a pet friendly office and we have pet therapy animals in residence daily.
She is presently working on a post doctoral degree from Florida Coastal School of Law, which will be an L.L.M. in Logistics and Transportation Law.
